Why have my notes stopped filing back to the clinical system?

Notes only file back to EMIS or SystmOne while JoyConnect is open on a device at the practice. If nothing has filed back, this guide explains why and how to clear the queue.

Notes you write in Joy do not send to the clinical system on their own. They queue, and the queue only sends while JoyConnect is open and connected on a device at the practice.

If no one at the practice has JoyConnect running. For example if some staff are still on the legacy Joy app, notes will sit unfiled with a number of potential connection errors.

To ensure accuracy, Joy and the clinical system will attempt to match the NHS number, ODS codes, and SNOMED codes. If there is a mismatch, this can cause an error, which will show on the JoyCases "Clinical Systems" tab.

To clear the queue

  1. Ask a colleague at the practice to open JoyConnect on their machine

  2. Check they are on the latest version — see the auto-updater guide if you are unsure

  3. Leave JoyConnect open for a few minutes ⏰

  4. Re-check the patient record in EMIS or SystmOne

The queued notes will send in the background once a device is connected. 🎉

If notes are still not arriving after a device has been connected, take a screenshot of the patient record and the Joy note and send it to us, along with the client ID.
