You can use Quick Fill to pre-populate a referral form with patient details and verify the information before submitting.
Before you start
Open a referral form with the correct patient loaded and Quick Fill available. Obtain consent before submitting. Quick Fill uses information already known to Joy; standalone/Lite mode may have less clinical-system context.
Step by step
With your patient loaded, find the service you want to refer them to and open the referral form.
Select Quick Fill to auto-populate the form with the patient's details from their record.
Review each pre-filled field — check name, date of birth, contact number, and GP surgery are all correct.
Update any fields that need changing before submitting.
Complete any remaining required fields that Quick Fill cannot populate automatically.
Confirm the patient's consent, review the completed form and submit the referral as normal.
Always review before submitting
Quick Fill copies what is on the patient record at that moment. If the record has an old address or phone number, it will pre-fill with that. A quick check takes seconds and prevents the referral reaching the wrong contact.
Check the result
Confirm the referral was submitted and appears in Activity. Pre-filling is not submission, and it does not remove the need to review fields and consent.
