You can create a client-linked task from My tasks or from the client’s record. Both routes create the same type of task.
Linking the correct client is essential. If the task also needs to appear on a specific case, create it from the client’s record and check the Case before saving.
From My tasks
In the Case Management sidebar, open My tasks.
Select New task.
Enter a Title. This is required.
Under Linked client (optional), search for and select the correct client. Although the field is labelled optional, selecting a client is required for a client-linked task.
Optionally add Notes (optional) and a Due (optional) date and time.
Select Create task.
Client search starts after you enter at least two characters.
This route links the task to the client, but it does not offer a case selector. To link a task to a specific case, use the client-record route below.
From a client record
In the Case Management sidebar, open Client cases, then select the client.
Open the client’s Records tab. To start from a specific case instead, open Cases, select the case, and stay on its Records tab.
Select Create new, then select Action.
In New action, enter a clear Title. The form does not currently mark a field as required, but a title makes the task easy to identify.
Optionally add Content.
Check Case:
When you start inside a case, that case is selected automatically.
From the client’s main Records tab, the active case is selected automatically when one exists.
Choose the correct case if the task needs to appear in that case’s Tasks tab. Selecting No case keeps the task linked only to the client.
Check Assignee. It defaults to you, the signed-in staff member.
Optionally set a Due date and Start time.
Select Save record.
An Action saved from the client record is the same type of task shown in My tasks.
After saving
The task is available in My tasks for its assignee.
It appears in the client’s Records.
If a Case was selected, it also appears under Cases → the relevant case → Tasks.
A task created from My tasks has no case link, so it does not appear in a case-specific Tasks tab.
