How to add a service to your directory

Written by Sonja Gebhardt

This guide covers adding a service to the Services directory so staff can find it when they refer or signpost a client.

It does not cover making the referral itself. See How to refer a client from the Services directory or How to refer a client to a service for that.

Open the service form

  1. In the Case Management sidebar, select Services.

  2. Select Add a service.

The Add a service dialog explains: Add a service your organisation offers or knows about. It appears under All added and My organisation's.

Enter the service details

  1. Enter the Service name. This is the only field that must be completed before Add service becomes available.

  2. Enter the Provider organisation, if another organisation provides the service.

If you leave Provider organisation blank, the placeholder explains Leave blank to use your organisation. This is how you add one of your own services.

  1. Add a Description.

  2. Choose a Referral type, if the service can receive referrals through Case Management: - Instant - External - Instructions - Documented - Not set

  3. Choose a Location: - Has a location - Provided nationally - Provided digitally - Not set

  4. Enter Delivery modes (comma separated), for example in_person, online, phone.

  5. Enter Nature of support (comma separated), for example loneliness, financial.

  6. If useful, enter a First referral question (optional).

The first referral question is saved as an optional short-text question. Staff will see it when they make a referral to this service.

Add the service

  1. Check the details, then select Add service.

The button reads Saving... while the service is being created.

When it succeeds, Joy shows Service added and confirms [Service name] is now in your directory. The dialog closes.

The service is active and appears in both All added and My organisation's. Its card can then offer Signpost and, when a Referral type was set, Refer.

If it does not save, Joy shows Could not add service followed by the reason. Keep the dialog open, check the information and try again.

Adding a service provided by someone else

You can enter another organisation's name in Provider organisation. This records the service in your organisation's directory under that provider name.

It does not invite that provider to Joy, give their staff access or publish a public Joy Marketplace listing. What to do when a service is not on Joy yet explains the separate route available from Case Management.

Find and manage it afterwards

  • Use My organisation's to see services your organisation has added.

  • Enter the name in Search services... and press Enter to narrow the directory.

  • Select View to read the saved service details.

  • For a service your organisation owns, select Manage, then Edit, Set active, Pause or Archive as appropriate.

  • Select Update now to confirm that the listing is current. Joy shows Service marked as up to date; this does not change the service details.

For the full directory and saving workflow, see How to use the Services directory and save a service. For the service detail panel, see How to view a service in Case Management.
