The Notification Centre

Written by Sonja Gebhardt

The Notification Centre brings together alerts about work that needs your attention and announcements sent across your organisation.

It does not cover the numbers beside sidebar items; see Understanding the sidebar badges and unread counts for those.

Open the Notification Centre

  1. Select the Notifications bell in the top-right corner.

  2. The red number on the bell shows how many notifications you have not read. When there are more than nine, it shows 9+.

  3. Stay on Active to see unread notifications, or select Archive to see notifications you have read.

If there is nothing waiting, the app shows No notifications. An empty archive shows No archived notifications.

What can appear

The label on each notification tells you what kind of event produced it. Current labels include:

  • New client for an assigned client or accepted referral;

  • Medical record for a clinical-system update;

  • Wellbeing, Concern or Form when one of these is completed;

  • Marketplace message and Outbound referral for service work;

  • Task when a task is assigned;

  • Delivery issue when an email, text or wellbeing send fails;

  • Log a referral? for a reminder to record referral work; and

  • Broadcast for an announcement from an Owner or Admin.

Replies from clients do not appear under the bell. Email and text replies go to Messages, while WhatsApp has its own header indicator.

Personal and organisation-wide notifications

  • Personal notifications are addressed to you, for example an assigned task. Other staff do not see them.

  • Organisation-wide notifications are visible to everyone in your current organisation. Broadcasts are one example; a completed wellbeing measure can also be organisation-wide.

  • Owners and Admins can select Broadcast, write an announcement and select Send broadcast. The app confirms Broadcast sent and says All staff in your organisation will see it in their notifications.

Read and clear notifications

  1. Select a notification. If it has a destination, the app marks it read and opens the relevant page.

  2. To read it without following a link, select Mark read.

  3. To mark every currently visible notification as read, select Clear all.

  4. Select Archive to find read notifications again.

  5. Use Search archive… to search their wording. Select Load more when it appears.

Reading or clearing does not delete a notification. It moves from Active to Archive for you; it does not clear another staff member's copy.

How long notifications stay

The Notification Centre does not show an expiry date and the current app does not apply an age limit when it loads the archive. Read notifications remain searchable in Archive, with older results available through Load more, for as long as the notification is retained by Joy.

The bell refreshes about every 30 seconds. After marking something read, the list and count also refresh immediately.
