Organisations delivering the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer have to return participant, demographic and personal data about the young people they support. The Youth Guarantee Trailblazer tracker holds that return against the client it describes, so the information is captured as you go rather than reconstructed from notes when the return is due.
Who sees it
Only organisations enabled for the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer. If yours is not, nothing renders on the Wellbeing tab — no card, no placeholder and no explanation. That is not a fault, and there is no self-service setting: enabling it is arranged with Joy.
Where to find it
Open the client and select the Wellbeing tab.
The Youth Guarantee Trailblazer card sits below the WorkWell card and above ordinary wellbeing trackers. Its subtitle is Structured staff return.
Select New tracker, or Edit on an existing one.
Before anything is recorded the card reads No Youth Guarantee Trailblazer trackers yet.
How it differs from a wellbeing framework
It shares the Wellbeing tab with wellbeing trackers, but it behaves nothing like them:
Staff-only. It cannot be sent to the young person to fill in — the dialog describes itself as a staff-only participant, demographic and personal data return.
Not scored. There is no baseline, latest score, improvement percentage or chart.
No follow-up cycle. You edit the one tracker as things change, rather than repeating a measure over time.
Never filed to the clinical record. There is no File to clinical record action.
Filling it in
Choose the case the tracker belongs to — only possible when you create it — then work through four sections:
Identifiers — your provider identifier number. The unique identifier number is generated by Joy and cannot be typed.
Participant data — date of first contact, the date the participant started provision, employment and education or training status at the start, the month and year they were last in education, employment or training, the referral route, and their primary and secondary health and non-health barriers. At the end of support you record the End of Support status, the date it ended, whether they were referred onwards and to whom, and their employment and education status at the end.
Demographic data — gender, ethnicity, highest education level, historic special educational needs flag, and whether they have a long-term physical or mental health condition.
Personal data — NHS number (or tick No NHS number available), the initiative or initiatives, name, date of birth, address, email and telephone.
Some answers open others: choosing Other as a referral route asks for the detail, and Referred Onwards asks where to.
Select Create tracker (or Save changes). Anything missing is listed at the top of the dialog.
There is no separate "complete" step
Finishing a participant's journey means filling in the End of Support status, the end date and the end-state employment and education statuses on the same tracker. Nothing else marks it as finished, and the tracker stays editable.
Getting the data out
Downloads live on the Dashboard menu: Youth Guarantee Participant Data (CSV), Youth Guarantee Demographic Data (CSV) and Youth Guarantee Personal Data (CSV). They appear only for enabled organisations. There is no chart or dashboard tab for Youth Guarantee — the CSVs are the reporting surface.
A word about the personal data section
This tracker deliberately holds identifiable information — NHS number, name, date of birth, address and contact details — because the return requires it. Treat the CSV downloads accordingly: they are personal data, and where they are saved and who they are sent to is your organisation's responsibility.
