This guide explains how imported clinical-system slots look on the Calendar, what has to be configured for a staff member, and what to check when nothing appears.
It does not repeat the EMIS connection process. Follow the published guide How to turn on your EMIS appointment book for those setup steps; How to create a client appointment covers creating a Joy booking.
What appears on the Calendar
The clinical-system items currently displayed in the Joy calendar are imported SystmOne diary slots.
They are pale purple.
They are labelled SystmOne appointment.
Their time and length determine where they sit in Week and Day.
They appear in the phone agenda in date and time order.
They are included when Joy checks whether a time is available for a new booking.
These slots are read-only here. Selecting one does not open client or appointment details, and the status chips do not hide it.
EMIS bookable slots work differently in the current app. They can be loaded inside New booking under GP appointment book (EMIS), but they are not the purple imported items shown on the calendar.
Turn on SystmOne appointment import
Select Working hours at the top of the Calendar.
Under Applies to, choose the staff member. SystmOne settings do not appear for Organisation default.
In SystmOne calendar sync, enter the SystmOne username.
Tick Import appointments from SystmOne.
Select Save.
The username Must exactly match this staff member's user name in SystmOne, or the sync cannot find their diary.
Joy confirms with Settings saved. This records the person's choice and username; it does not by itself prove that a diary pull has completed.
Check when nothing appears
Check the calendar's date range and choose the staff member in the picker rather than relying on All staff.
Select Working hours, choose that person under Applies to, and check that Import appointments from SystmOne is ticked.
Check the SystmOne username character by character.
Look for The last SystmOne diary pull failed for this username. Check it matches SystmOne exactly — saving a correction resets the check.
Look for an amber connection message below the import setting.
The rebuilt app currently reports that its direct SystmOne appointment pull transport is not connected yet. Where your organisation still uses the existing Rails-side SystmOne sync, saving these settings makes them available to that sync, but Joy cannot promise that slots will arrive through the rebuild itself.
If the setting is correct and no slots appear, give support the staff member's name, the date range you checked and the exact warning shown. Do not create a duplicate Joy booking until you have checked the clinical diary separately.
Use EMIS slots while booking
If your organisation's EMIS appointment book has been connected:
Select New booking.
Choose the appointment Date.
Under GP appointment book (EMIS), select Load slots.
Select a returned slot to fill in the time and duration.
The app says No bookable EMIS slots for this date. when the connected service returns none. A connection or credential problem is shown in the same section instead of silently treating it as an empty diary.
