Connect your Microsoft 365 account to see your work calendar in both Outlook and Joy. You must already have a Joy account, and you must connect the Microsoft account whose calendar you use.
Connect Microsoft 365
Open Calendar in Joy.
Select Working hours to open the calendar settings.
In the Microsoft 365 section, select Connect Microsoft 365.
Sign in to the Microsoft account you want to connect.
Review the request and grant Joy permission to access your calendar.
Return to Joy and select Import Outlook calendar.
The first import can take a little time. The Microsoft 365 section shows the last successful sync and how many Outlook events are currently in Joy.
If Microsoft says that approval is required, ask your organisation's IT administrator to approve the Joy app. Once they have approved it, return to Joy and connect again.
What syncs between the calendars
Bookings and non-client entries that you create in Joy are mirrored to your own Outlook calendar. Changes and deletions in Joy update the same Outlook event.
Events from your connected account's primary Outlook calendar are imported into Joy as non-client entries.
Joy does not try to match an imported Outlook event to a client from its title, description or attendees.
Imported Outlook events remain Outlook-owned. Make changes to them in Outlook, then sync again to bring those changes into Joy.
Joy refreshes enabled calendars periodically. To request a refresh yourself, open the Microsoft 365 section in calendar settings and select Sync now. Microsoft may occasionally delay a refresh; check the displayed last successful sync time before trying again.
Private and recurring events
Private Outlook events block out the correct time in Joy but are shown as Private Outlook event. Joy does not import their description, location, Outlook link or online-meeting link.
Outlook recurring events are shown in Joy as the individual occurrences that fall within the supported date range. Changes or cancellations in Outlook update the matching occurrence in Joy.
A recurring entry created in Joy is mirrored to Outlook as separate events rather than as one linked Outlook series.
Date range and supported calendars
The initial Outlook import covers events from 30 days in the past to 365 days in the future.
Joy imports only the connected user's own primary Outlook calendar. Shared, delegated and secondary calendars are not supported. Connecting your account does not give Joy access to another person's calendar.
Reconnect or disconnect
If Joy shows Reconnect, select it and grant calendar access again. You may need to reconnect if Microsoft permission was withdrawn or the connection expired.
To stop the connection, open the Microsoft 365 section and select Disconnect. This stops future imports and mirroring. It does not delete your Joy bookings, and Outlook events that were already imported remain visible and identifiable in Joy. Reconnect and sync to resume updates.
If an event is missing
Select Sync now, then check the last successful sync time.
Confirm the event is in the connected account's primary calendar.
Confirm the event falls within 30 days in the past and 365 days in the future.
If Joy asks you to reconnect, reconnect Microsoft 365 and grant calendar permission again.
If Microsoft reports a temporary problem, wait a little and try Sync now again.
If Microsoft says approval is required, ask your IT administrator to approve the Joy app.
Your Joy calendar continues to work even when Microsoft 365 is disconnected or a sync is delayed.
