How do I document an external referral or signpost in Joy?

The how-to guide shows you how to document external referrals and signposts.

We love being made aware of new services which could be on Joy, please reach out to us or the service themselves to let them know you are using Joy. You may not need to externally refer or signpost for long, as this will allow them to learn about and utlise the marketplace!

📌 Note: This feature is important to use as it allows you to still gather data and track referrals (even if the service isn't on Joy).


How to manually document a referral or signpost

💡 Hint: The process for manually documenting a referral and manually documenting a signpost are identical, so if you need to do either you can follow this guide!

  1. Select the client 🧑 you would like to document a referral for by clicking on their name in the 'Clients' tab

  2. Head to the ‘Services’ tab

  3. Select the ‘Add a referral/signpost’ 👇 tab in the top right-hand corner

  4. Select the service you have referred your client to by searching for it 🔍

    • If the service is not there, select ‘Create new service’ and input the details of the new service, you will only need to do this once as it will be stored in Joy

  5. Hit ‘Save’

  6. You have documented the referral! 🎉


How do I update the status of the referral?

  1. Select the status 🚥 of the referral (for example, 'Awaiting response' pictured below)

  2. Choose an updated option and it will auto-save

  3. You have updated the status of your referral! 🎉
